The visual language comes from the engineering drawing rather than the product photograph. A drawing sheet exists to remove ambiguity: it carries a title block with provenance, and it annotates rather than decorates. Every line on the sheet means something.
What is borrowed is the information architecture, the title block, the annotation and the dimension, not the visual pastiche. No blueprint blue, no fake grid paper, no drop shadows imitating vellum. The single decorative device is the dimension rule that marks each section boundary.
The palette is drawn from materials: bead-blasted aluminium for the ground, black anodise for the ink, and one saturated blue reserved for anything carrying a live value. Type pairs an expanded grotesque for display with a serif for prose, and a mono that carries all metadata, so anything machine-generated sits in a visibly different register from anything written.
